In 2017, CWNF partnered with an Americorps team to improve CWNF premises by clearing trails, cleaning beaches, and building benches. The team stayed for about 3 weeks and expanded the trail system and re-graveled the parking lot.
Groups are invited to take a drop and decorate it with their feelings about water. The finished drops are displayed at locations in the community to raise awareness of the importance of preserving our water. To date, over 30 water drops have been completed by groups of all ages.
Most years. CWNF hosts a Family Day open to all ages. Attractions usually include nature treasure hunts, worm races, face-painting, petting zoo, tree planting anda Raptor program presented by a raptor rescue group.
In 2012, the Incourage Community Foundation Teen Leadership Group erected a Free Little Library under the old oak tree in Twin Lakes Nature Center. The concept is "take a book, leave a book", and is free to everybody who visits the nature center. Our Free Little Library is open during park hours from early spring until late fall and holds books for people of all ages. Everyone is invited to select a book and sit and read, or take it home with you.
Snapshot Wisconsin is a program to engage citizens in monitoring wildlife through use of motion-activated game cameras. This is not only a way to increase citizen involvement with Wisconsn's natural resources, but also provides the Wisconsin DNR with information it can use to manage Wisconsin's wildlife.
